Inspired by a friend of mine, she felt the need to assign me a task, which i will always respond with they malicious compliance of a poorly healed child. I love how this one turned out though, the idea was to illustrate the emotional and spiritual layers of a person, I just wanted to peal a person down to their skeleton. Thank God she doesn’t talk to me any more, I wouldn’t be able to handle her dissapointment.

The original sketch for this piece is located in the Sketchbook Area. I love Skeletons, I write songs about Skeletons. There is such a disconnect ( with me at least ) between who I am ( consciousness) and the machinery that has to interconnect and fit inside you ( and be all squishy). I am not constantly aware of my Liver, but I am consciously aware it exists.
The angel is in bondage, for personal reasons. I shall not discuss. However, She has no arms for Aesthetic reasons.

My youngest daughter asked me to draw her a castle, I had already built her a playhouse, but she was greedy and wanted more. So I drew her this in Pen and Ink, Patchwork and poorly put together, a small castle that over time, I assume instead of repairing the crumbling stone, they just built on with whatever they had, until they resorted to tarps and rope to keep out the rain and snow. I asked her ( at 4 years old) to make me characters to go in the open doors and windows, and she did ( eventually….). So now, whenever we want to play, we can bring her characters in and tell each other stories, and when we are finished, they go home, and the castle is empty once again.

I attempted to Experiment with a little Art Nouveau style. I loved shading the Purple Cloth that drapes from the model, but I hated minimizing the shadows on the skin tone. The dark heavy lines are my favorite, very comic book -esque, but a common trait of the Illustrations and Advertisements of the time, using Alphonse Mucha’s work as inspiration as well a definitive guide on the distinctive elements that made up Art from that Era.

I enjoy roadside attractions and the nature of Americana that spends ours of time and a considerable amount of money to see the “Worlds Largest Ball of Yarn” or the “Corn Palace” (The real one in Nebraska, not the Imitator in South Dakota). These are our hallow idols, and our shrines to worship the god’s of the tchotchke and painfully mediocre. All the little people gather on the grass to stare and bask in its radiance. Also the souls of the undead float behind the light let in through the eyes, and tiny miners toil away in the background.
